Seventies Kid (first demo)

It was 1972 when I bought my first guitar and learned to play it... badly!
Although I remember the music was great in the 70's there was an awful lot of rubbish too. This is a first demo of a rather tongue in cheek song I have started working on -- needs a bit of polish but you'll get the idea!

I bought a guitar and a book of chords
I dreamt of electrics that I couldn't afford
And all the young dudes they were wearing flares
Instead of flowers they had stars in their hair
But I played what I could and I did what I did
And a pinball wizard really lifted the lid

Well I dug T. Rex and all the rest
And I tried to look glam in my tie dyed vest
I learned all the chords till my fingers bled
And I couldn't get Bowie outta my head

Along came punks and I didn't much care
Didn't wear the pins or colour my hair
Could have played along to those 3 chord breaks
But I found it wasn't just my head that ached
So I played what I could and I left the rest
Had nothing much to get off my chest
And there was American Pie

And the needle on my player was as heavy as Led
Pink Floyd posters hanging over my bed
The pathway to heaven was a Zeppelin balloon
While my friends all polished up their silver spoons

Deciding if the Beatles or the Stones were best

A Steve T - hahaha! Painting your hub caps was a bit radical LOL! Painting bosoms was more fun!
