Sure, you can use the Squire neck.   Maybe with wood reinforced under the box and then bolted on.   Still, best to do a simpler build or two first.   Good luck.

I do intend on using other boxes first as practice but I have the neck of a busted up old squier guitar and was

wondering if I could utilise that?  I have no idea how I could secure it to the box though?

Will have to search around the internet, some kind of wooden block inside the box to bolt the neck too??

This is becoming a compulsion.

Hep Cat.  Good name.   Lots of info on building a cbg on the net.   For one, plans on the top of this page.  I would suggest you start with a different box or tin then after success move to the ammo box.  No difference really in how you build.

Sounds great John.  I am British Army veteran and have an ammo box that I use to keep odds and ends / junk in

and would love to turn it into a 3 string instrument..

I wonder if you could advise on what you used for the neck on yours, length of timber and such?  I am a

total beginner at this so any advice gratefully received.   Thank You
