Hi JK - no I use a 6E which gives me a heavy bass line. I did overstretch a G string on my 2 stringer and it lost its tone so I tend to detune rather than the other way around if possible

Brian did you mean 3G,2B,1E strings to open D tune?

 

When i tune that, strings and tuning machines feels quite tight, but they not going borke .... yet :)

Nice sound - interesting stringing, presumably high tuning a G to an A and  b to  d - amazed they didn't snap!  I use E b and e strings for a D a d tuning
