Grandpa Was A Carpenter -John Prine cover

As done here, I= C, IV=F, and V = G

[I] Grandpa wore his suit to dinner nearly every [IV] day.

No particular [I] reason. He just dressed that [V] way.

[I] Brown necktie and a matching vest And both his wingtip [IV] shoes.

He built a closet on [I] our back porch & put a penny in a [V] burned out [I] fuse.

[IV] Grandpa was a carpenter He built houses stores and [I] banks

[IV] Chain smoked Camel [I] cigarettes &hammered nails in [V] planks

He was [I] level on the level. He shaved even every [IV] door

He voted for Eisen [I] hower cause Lincoln [V] won the [I] war.

He used to sing me Blood on the Saddle & rock me on his [IV] knee
And let me listen to [I] radio Before we got Tee [V] Vee.
He'd [[I] drive to church on Sunday & take me with him [IV] too.
Stained glass in every [I] window. Hearing aids in [D] every [G] pew.

Now grandma was a teacher Went to school in Bowling [C] Green
Traded in a [G] milking cow for a Singer sewing ma- [V] chine
She [I] called her husband 'Mister' And walked real tall & [IV] proud
She used to buy me [I] comic books After [V] grandpa [I] died.

I come in to hear some Prine, I'm thinking this is nice, a perfect song choice for UJ - then I scroll down to see Clock's crowning achievement.  Holy smokes, did that make me laugh. I think it's how he's looking right at me that gets me the most.

Thanks, Danny.  Seeing the lyrics is seeing that I sang 'Blood On The Tracks' instead of Blood On The Saddle.  Ooops!
