Here's a little vid I made some time ago that you all might find interesting. It's all about my little DIY foot drum. Since I made this vid, I've tapered the beater end of the pedal, and wrapped the beater in leather. It aids in the bass response. I think a simple frame drum would be better than the tambourine, especially if you don't want that "jangle" sound every time you hit the bass.

Sure! The base is 3/4" pine board measuring 18" lenght and 7" width. The pedal is two pieces of 1/4" wood laminate flooring glued together. It's 15" long and 4" wide. The pivot point on the pedal is 5" from the end. The metal bracket is 3" at the top and 5" at the base, and the hole for the pivot lag bolt is at 2" from the base. The block on top is 1"x1" pine, and is 2.5" long. I'm using a 10" diameter tambourine. That ought to get ya started!

superb job.you're right about not needing to mic it up-I've played medium size clubs with the kick and cbg amp miced but with nothing at all on the foot tambourine-it cuts across all that noise with surprising ease. The fact youre getting a snare type sound too is a real bonus.
wicked.
