Hi Chris.

Nice idea. Just a thought. There is an alternative damper arrangement that you might like to try. Wrap some fabric (felt would be ideal) round the string or strings above where you finger (should that be toe?) it and every time you lift your foot up the string will be damped. This is the way clavichords work.
