Bungee bass diddleybow
A bungee cord, a poplar stick, two dowel pieces for bridges, an old bass tuner, piezo pickup. This was a short bungee cord, about 9" unstretched. The diameter was about 3/16". A longer cord might give a better string length. The sound was pretty good but the scale feels cramped.

I have a reputation for building and playing strange instruments and have a gig coming up in December .The club owner there who normally plays stand up bass accomanies me on my homemade headless bass, but I think I'll build one of these for him (though as you said maybe a bit longer in scale length) and pass it to him on stage!Should get a laugh!
