1/2 a long split pin glued on? but they are a bitch to file down so cut to size at an angle?... you soon find that proper fretting is actually very easy... but getting them in the right place isn't ... the rule of 18ths works for basic positions as above

cheap pound shop mitre block and ultra thin fret saw and mark out with a razor blade and your away...and some dam good cutters :>)

A friend of mine go so frustrated he took apart a guitar just so he could get his template to work well... the measuring rules don't seem to work either if you ask me ..

one chap i know glues sand paper to glass so he can sand the fret board and it ends up flat

I have a cbg with a 3mm ally fret board that plays best as the dam thing is at least flat! lol

It's kind of cool to use nails.  I did once and once cut some flat sided bobby pins to size and glued them on.  They worked well, but  I botched up the glue job.  A bit of mess.  A friend has good success with flat wood toothpicks.

Because I never had any fret wire but lots of nails and rivets.

For all that work why not use fret wire?

Cool on Raggy.  I think I have seen his videos.

Yes I have found the same thing. For me the single string seems to lend its self to the uke scale better, that ukulele now belongs to a player in the states (Raggy ragsdale on YouTube) and he has found it harder to play for his fingers but I’m looking forward to his posts with it.

Nice 3 string uke.  Seems to play well.  One thing experience has taught me (the hard way as usual) is that the shorter the scale (ukes and mandolins) the smaller the fret height should be.  If a jumbo fret is used on a short scale it tends to pull the intonation (pitch) off from what it should be when it is fretted.

Bit longer than a standard video but I hope you find this interesting enough to watch.
