Hi Juju,
OK, thanks for that. I'll look into it. How do you rate K-L's tuition DVD? Saying that, if it's by a Burgess it must be good!
Catch you later
Jeff

Hey Juju,
If you can't enlarge the image, I'll dig out the original JPEG of the remote and send it to you - it's on the PC at work. Doesn't seem to work on my missus though!!
A question - this is my first CGB as ya know. What tuning would you use? first 4 of Open G, GDGD or AEAC# ? I want to try get the old Delta sound (Son House style). Yor help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome.
The remote? It's something a friend of mine swears is my philosophy of life - don't know what he means!!
I'm only just venturing into the world of CGB. I've just taken delivery of a Rusty Hooper (Poorboys CGB) 4 string called 'The Last Rebel". I think this holiday weekend is going to be one long jam session!

Hey Juju - thanks for the welcome. Yeah, it was news of there being a CBG fest here in Britain that brought me here, as I was part-way to planning one myself ! (that being as a result of a conversation I had with Shane over a yer ago).
Anyways, I dunno about you having 'soundssogood' for your moniker, as 'lookssogood' would be just as appropriate. I love the look of the stuff you build ! I reckon that between yourself and Ted Crocker, the two of you set a very high standard for the rest of us.
I'm looking for ward to some good ol' CBG chat on tis new site as the old group has been too dead for too long.

Yup, its a grand place to be! Lots to see and do here too... we are just minutes from Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, the Cairngorms etc. If you come in the off season Il be able to do you a good deal too! Better bring a guitar and those new skills learnt from Keni! :o)

Thank you Juju. Once you have a chance to work on Series 1, Lesson 5 will encourage you to take a simple melody that you can sing or hum and try to find it the guitar and make an arrangement in the same way I arranaged the Gospel classic Go tell it on the moutain. (Wow that was a long sentence lol.)Starting from a single note melody line, then harmony into chords. This is a good opportunity to learn. After you make your arrangement. I will be glad to review it for you and give you constructive ideas to open up other possibliities. I think the lessons will really help you understand the fingerboard better. Enjoy.

It sure is... though if Im honest its the West coast thats the good bit - that photo was taken near Kyle of Lochalsh which is about 2 hours from me, though we regularly go just for an afternoon. Theres a lot of places like that!! Pretty much all of it is accessible in a day from here though. Its my families business - www.torguish.com if you want a look.
The wood turner is good for interesting bits but I want to buy my necks already planed down to 40mm, and Id like to try walnut, maple, oak etc (all mine are mahogany to date) - something he isnt really in for. I think the right timber yard should be around £2 - £3 per 'neck'.
Right, Im off to buy Keni's video! Id love to learn a few riffs just so I can turn up at the local and blow the roof off!!! Im up for doing something at Birmingham if you fancy going up together - we can maybe throw something together beforehand???
Take it easy

Yup, thats me... business is just picking up for summer. Funny enough the one thing I have heaps of is tuners... my local shop sell me these really nice open back 3 a side jobs with all the screws and ferules etc for half price, £5 a set... theyre real pretty too. Running out of wood for necks though, and theres no-one up here to buy it from :o( Maybe Il have to buy a truck load to make it worth while... lol
Im thinking of buying Keni's tutorial too... youll have to let me know how you get on - I look forward to your video!

Thank you juju. I think you will find the approach offered on the instructional CDs very useful. It will help you understand arranging a song by building it from the ground up. Once you figure out simple melody lines, you learn how to add harmony using two note double stops. Then it is easy to find a third note to build a chord. In addition, I am here to answer any questions and offer advice. It is a primal approach, just like these rural folk instruments. lol. Enjoy.
