Hi Skeesix-

You got me interested in winding my own pickups because of your late summer 2004 post on the CBG forum. I had not really grasped the idea that it was possible for mere mortals to wind their own pickups until that post!

Thanks again!

Best regards, Willie

Good eye! Yeah, if they look photoshop'd to you, it's because I edited the pic in photoshop to get rid of the watermark, and to blow the picture up to a higher resolution. I didn't mess with it in any other way. Check it out, here's the original....

Thank you for your comment about my video. Yes, I agree, she definately likes to portray herself as Judge Harsh anyway...so why not help her out...LOL Enjoy

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee

I think you need to make em out of the OLD vintage beer cans (before they went aluminum) . . . preferably Carling Black Label.

Love the new stuff you're building. The beer can reso is cool beyond words - even if the acoustic sound doesn't measure up to what you wanted.

Skeesix, received my pick up yesterday. Looks really good with CBG, can't wait to get it installed and box finished. I think that it was the perfect choice for my build! Thanks

hi there,

yes, I used pine for the neck. It's my first CBG and was the only wood I could find at a local store, plus very easy to work with if your workshop is also your living room :)

Hey, ordered one of your four pole pick ups yesterday, and have a couple of questions. Does it need to be grounded, and i'm wanting to use 250k pots for volume and tone with a sprague vitamin q capacitor. This is my first buold with a pick up and its going in a resonator CB. Thanks

Hey Skeezix,
Thanks for your kind comment about 'Bingo - It's You.' The fact that you liked the tune gives me the warm fuzzies . . . . like a shot of Jack in the morning. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment about it.
Cheers!
K

Hi Skeesix! I may have changed my mind about the box I'm going to use, but I just wanted to check and see if there are any particular output specifications from your three pole pickup that I will want to consider when choosing volume and tone pots. Thanks!

Hi Skeesix! It's been awhile since I won your drawing for the three pole pickup. I didn't want to just slap the nicest pickup I've ever had into any old box. I've found a really nice, long COHIBA box to use. I'm going to cut a nice poplar neck and shape it really nicely with good heal. I'll be using a fret board on this one and the fret wire that I haven't tried yet. I'm looking to make this one a keeper. When I complete it, there will be a sound file. Thanks again for the pickup.

It's an Epiphone P90. I threatened to make my own pickup, but already had that one laying around, so ended up using it (for now)...

Feel free to use any of my comments and /or my name and you know i already tell people where i got the PUP, It was a smash at Green Muse open mike night, and I was braggin on ya the whole time! I hope everything is going ok for you,i truly appreciate your kindness and your enthusiasum. One of these days i'll have the right software to put sound clips on the net. My digital ineptitude is embarassing. I can record on my cellphone but i need the software to put it on my computer. Peace

Yes that is indeed your PUP, and it sounds awesome. I kinda rushed that guitar just to put the PUP in it, it's not too pretty, but it roccks,it can be real crunchy, punkblues metal sounding, I call it Blue Sabbath. It's solid body' filled with scrap oak 1x2. I'm sorry i didn't ever send for the 4 pole, i just ran low on funds, hope you sold it to someone, seems like a lot of work to make those PUPs.
