Thanks! I love the site, and have been enjoying the music as well. My daughter has been making a cbg for a 6th grade project, (in fact just finished it) and it sounds real nice! I'll post some pictures.
The site was invaluable for figuring out details like string guage, and playing style.
Thanks for the welcome. I'm not sure I quite belong here, given that my build doesn't involve a cigar box and won't really resemble a guitar (check it out), but I feel as though my posts would be more appropriate here than on the proper luthiers forums I've been to recently.
Yes it is a Windsor Reso mandolin made in 1936. Windsor stopped making instruments in 1940 (I believe) but any way Hitler bombed the factory and they never made instruments again. Thank you for your comment!
Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm in the cigar business and always have boxes left over and I have always wanted to learn to play guitar, this may be the perfect opportunity!
Thanks for the welcome - I appreciate it! I'll be a lurker for the most part, until I get completely stuck on something - so far, there's been an answer for everything I've wanted to know.
Thanks for the welcome! I do have a question...what's the best way to respond to comments? Click on the person's name and go to their page? I had tried a couple of ways and usually end up responding to myself...hahahah
Thanks a lot for the welcome wagon. I'm definitely going to take advantage of the advice here from everyone. I can't wait to build my first CBG!

Tres, thanks for the comment and for checking out the video. I'm nowhere near as proficient on the slide as I need to be. Thanks for the digs, though!!!
Thanks Tres,
what a great place. You all something very good here.
I love the cheaper the better credo that seems to rule.
Look forward to talking with you in the future.
Check out my first builds if you get a chance.
Thanks for the welcome. It's going to be nice to have a place to "vent" my passion for building and playing CBGs. I currently have 3 built (I'll post some more pics soon) and have a few more on the drawing board. Hope to post my progress and methods I use here. Maybe they will help or encourage newcomers to the craft.
HI Tres, I have already found a wealth of information and am building a CBG and will post some photos when I get it done, thanks again for the welcome

Hello Tres, this site seems like a very cool spot to talk to like-minded folks. When I mention CBGs at work,I have to dumb down the conversation so bad.So I look forward to sharing my builds with others as well as seeing some of the cool stuff other people are playing and building.Thank you for the welcome
Hello Tres you know this cbg thing gets in your blood. I have been making a living out of wood for the last 20yrs, but this cbg stuff has me gripped like a nuns mountain bike. First friendly contact on what seems to be the most helpful web site on the net. Many thanks and best regards "The Limey".
