Thanks for your interest im my work, the piece across isn't for sound.
Most of the resonators I build get the hand rest for looks and so you do play to close to the bridge piece, it gives a good place to play where the sound is best.
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks for the comment about my build, Jon. I need to get some music on my page eventually...still trying to figure that thing out, but it sounds great. Couldn't be happier. Pretty nice doubleneck you've got there, too. I love the aluminum channels and the overall look. Nicely done.

Oh yea, the strings are tied to the neck inside so the grommets really just keep them from digging into the wood.

Hey John, thanks for the comments about SmokeRings. I did not add any bracing inside for the string grommets, just glued them in so they will not slip out. Seem to hold tension just fine, but I guess time will tell!

Thanks for your comment - I think having discreet fret marks fools any watchers into thinking you are a total pro who doesn't need any help finding the notes!

Thank you Jon for your comment. If you are tuned 151 (GDG, AEA, DAD, EBE, etc.) it will work out fine. Enjoy.

Haven't had a chance yet to watch the video. Looking forward to it though. How is the amp coming along?

Thank you Jon for your comments and purchases. Please feel free to write if any musical questions arise as you work through the lessons. I think you will discover that understanding how open tunings function will make playing your homemade instruments approachable and a lot of fun too. Enjoy.
