the guitar making is my strangest hobby....and everything I do takes longer than if I were a real woodworker...so they don't really live in a commercial setting.....they are much more important to me as solid mementos of the time of my life when I built them.
Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
Hi Freddy
Yes thanks i'm Good , hope you are too ?
like your story of your visit to the UK - you encounterd our Police then lol!! - our police are ass holes they don't need Guns because they know once you step over the white line ,your straight off to the Police Station for a serious Kicking - so most people dont step over the line lol!!
as regards the reso The wire i used was from a Audio Cable (phono lead) you know the type that goes in the back of a Stereo Red & white ends , cut the ends of and theres two wires in each cable and the middle core is sheilded which cuts down feedback/interfearance
the strings on the reso are 3mm from the freatboard/fingerboard - i also play slide and fretted (well i try ) lol !
if you check out my pics of the reso theres some pics of the inside , you can see what i did to brace the box , you may not need to brace the box , all depends on what neck and reso sound well you have used - do you have any pics of it ?
Good to here from you mate , take it easy now !
juju.
Hi Freddy
Hope your keeping well and the suns high in the sky !
the bridge in the pics i sent you is the one that comes with the Reso set coverplate/cone /bridge and biscuit , it's made from Ebony and Maple dont see as it matters what you make it from , i have replaced mine for a single bit of bone , sounds much better , used a Bone Saddle blank and trimmed it to size
i have been using Earni Ball Regular strings , used the bottom four , but i have now purchased some medium accoustic strings which are a heavier gauge , gonna fit them today so i wiill let you know how i get on with them
i'm expecting them to sound a little warmer in sound played acoustically but not so sure what they will sound like with the magnetic pickup as the strings are bronze wound , which means they will only have a thin steel core to the strings ?? gotta try these things aint ya !!
get your wife some ear plugs and send her off to bed lol!!
take care mate

Hi Freddy Have a look at page nine , it shows two humbucker pickups wired , just put a Piezo in-place of one of them , this is how i did my last one Cool you have Gators there , only ever seen one in a zoo !! juju. wiring_book01.pdf
Hi Freddy No worries mate ,Glad to help out shown in the pics are the Biscuit Bridge - which is made up of a round disc of wood (the Biscuit) and a wooden Bridge (maple topped with ebony) could also be made from bone the biscuit has a slot cut into it to accept the Bridge , make sure the slot is a very snug fit on the Bridge , best not to glue the bridge in-to the biscuit , just incase you want to change it at any time ! the biscuit Bridge is glued onto the Reso cone with CA Glue (superglue ) The hole in the cone is there because it's how they mount the cone when they make them This hole can be used if you are going to use a Piezo Transducer pickup , glue the piezo to the underside of the biscuit then feed the wires through the hole i would use a little blob silicone around the wires and the hole to stop the wires rubbing on the cone , this will stop any vibration also stop any chance of the wires rubbing bare on the alloy cone and shorting out . Hope this helps Say hello to your girls from Juju in the UK lol!! Just let me know if you need more infomation keep well my freind
Hi Freddy Hope your having a good weekend mate here are a couple of pics which should help you on your way the photo shows the reso on a dry run before the final Glue up as you can see i have indicated where i applied glue also the dowels as regards the dowels (not shown) drill the holes while your doing the dry Run clamp everything together with G clamps then drill the holes Also remember to put a Neck angle on the heel end of the neck i'm sure mine was 2 degree this is needed so the strings will clear the Reso CoverPlate it will also give you Clearance to play the instrument if you need more help with the neck angle let me know , hope this helps you out mate hey your a biker too !! cool theres quite a few of us on here , just sold my KTM , i'm now riding my mountain Bike lol!! keeps me a little fitter , but would love to get another Sports bike , maybe one day , too busy making things right now juju.
