hello scott, just popped in to answer your question about the f hole templates. i didn,t have templates so i just drew some, with trial and error and eraser till i thought they looked ok.for a reference to see what i was trying to draw i looked at an old picture of a dobro in a guitar book.

I think only in Australia. Have a look at www.mortein.com.au
The tin was actually too deep for the cigar box so I had to shorten it from the bottom and then pop riveted the bottom back on. Definately needs a pick-up if you use this type of tin. Cheers John

Hey Scott!

Welcome to your newest obsession.

Is that your hound dog? I find that my CBG playing gets better if my hound dog is somewhere in sight....

no worries about the questions,if i can help you then that is a good thing,if we need info around here we always ask each other, that is how it works.great folks here too for helping each other,so to the reso thing... i have used lots of different things fer the reso that was a very mimimal cost, some things as little as 1 dollar and they all seem to work good they just have different tones and different volume capabilities. so far the loudest thing i have found to use is an aluminum angel food cake pan that is about 4 in.across the top.i like it best cause aluminum seems to be the best resonator material to use. i also used an aluminum jello pan that is larger and has just as much volume i think is 5 1/2 or 6 inches across the top.i have used tuna cans and beef stew cans cause they are deeper than tuna cans.some food cans are metal--AKA--tin cans but some are aluminum also.a lot of the recent resonators i have built have no cover plates on them and they work just fine that way too.if you have the time go and look at my recent pics and you will find a lot of info by just looking at the pics.i have pics of the inside of some of the boxes too so you can get an idea how i build up the inside of the box to set a can in it fer a reso. if you have more questions i will always answer them the best i can.feel good about asking cause that is one way we get our research.hope this helps you out Scott Waters. talk with ya later.
