Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee

Rob, The pickups really aren't that hard to make. You can read here how I made my first one: http://cigarboxnation.ning.com/group/lowbudgetland/forum/topics/making-pickups

My diddley bow pickup is more like the one described in the Instructables link at the top of the same page. Basicly it's just the two magnets from Radioshack, a machine bolt, and some copper wire (which you can also get from radio shack). If you search the forums Ted Crocker gave some advice on building them. I say give it a shot! I knew almost nothing making mine and it worked on the first try. WARNING: Making homemade pups is like building guitars...once you make one, you can't wait to make the next one!

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, that's one mistake you only make once. Live and learn I guess. Nice lightning bolt sound holes, by the way!

Most everything I've done so far have been 24.5 / 25.5 inch scale necks. More by accident than anything else, the Wfret program has different scales listed that it will print a template for, so I used it. Glad you like 'em, I can't play so right now I just kinda build for family/friends that do.

Hey mate, thanks for your comments on ma beat box - Im keeping it! lol Not sure if this'll help, but when I built this, I encased the piezo in wood, glued it inside with silicone, then filled all the remaining space with layered foam (from an old camping mat) - worked out nice, none of the feedback and ugly noises I expected.
looking forward to seein yours

Thanks for your comment, I'm just finding my way around on here. You certainly have some nice instruments. I like accessorizing the corners too. I've already learned some things from the great site. Gloria

Thanks for the feedback! I made the macrame strap watching tv in the evenings! It's not rocket science and info is readily available on the net or in the library. I've kept it simple for now. Looks like you're not having any trouble in the the creativity department!

Hahaha i guess its in the breed, pitt's and staff's are sweet but not the most intelligent of dog's hahaha. He rolled around in a firepit? I thought it was a blue pitbull instead of a rednose but that does explain it hehehe. Their clown's in their own right, silly doggs but you cant get a better or more faithfull compagnion.
Cheers and best wishes m8!

When I use the wiper blade inserts, I cut the slots with a Buck Brothers Junior Hacksaw that i got from Home depot. The saw makes slots that are the perfect size for the inserts. I have built so many guitars, that I can get the depth right just by eye usually, but I do measure the slots depth as I go, by taking one of the wiper inserts and tapping it into the slot to check. I cut all the slots for the frets first, then I cut the wiper blade inserts into 1.5" lengths and lightly round the corners with a grinding wheel in my drill. Next, I take my finger and force some Elmers Wood glue into the slots before tapping the frets in with a small hammer. Tap one corner in gently and then work the rest of the fret in, it's a very tight fit. After I tap each fret in, I wipe away the excess glue with a damp rag so that I don't get glue build up. Then, after the frets are in, I do the final sanding and staining. I put the stain on with a small square artists brush that I can use easily between the frets. Then I spray the whole thing with poly, frets and all. I will say that doing frets with a fret saw and store bought fret wire is much, much easier. I just do them this way to retain as much of a home spun quality as I can.

On the Padron, the fret markers are some thin headed brass tacks and the frets are wiper blade inserts.
