I echo these guys, it's up to you.  Nothing wrong and quite a bit right about keeping your first build simple...   Because most of us can not stop with one.  Unfretted 2 and 3 strings are fun and you can still fret a bit without metal frets.  Good luck and wishes.

I think we all face this question at some point or another. Fretting can seem so complicated, and coming into it "cold", as many of us do, can be hard. Having gone through it myself, I decided that I needed to put together a guide specifically to help the first-time fretter get started, based on what I had learned and the mistakes I had made in my own learning process.
