Tapered Neck Advice

Started this discussion. Last reply by Nathan Binns Jun 6, 2016. 13 Replies

Anyone have any advice on tapering a neck? After much thought, I'm guessing the best way to do this is to glue an over sized neck blank up, draw out the taper and cut close to the line with a band…Continue

I was looking at ordering some kerf lining and saw that it, as well as other bracing material, is made of spruce. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to different types of wood so what's the difference…Continue

Does anyone have any good country slide tabs, lessons or tips bookmarked? I have a couple licks figured out, but I'm feeling pretty limited. A friend wants to collaborate on a folk-country tune and I…Continue

Hi Nathan,

That is a great idea using the different types of wood they floor boards.  They would be a solid wood I would think?  You can sand them thinner to if you wish for possible a different resonance.   You have enough material to make a lot of Cigar Box Guitars. CAn you make me one?  I know there is so much amazaing informaton on how to build your self. I am handy with wood and things but I do my best to keep teaching and a little bit of studio work for my bread and butter. It would be great to have a Cigar Box made by someone like you that has already done it before and Therfore I wont do it and make mistakes and I can benifit from the mistakes you have made that now allow you to make a good Cigar Box. I also like the resonator sound with the cone but some say they put it in and regret it.  I do play resonator guitar 6 string but would love to get into the 4 string style.

Please get back to me

I am Rick Washbrook from Newmarket Ontario Canada

All is good,

Rick Washbrook
