You can see in this shot how I often have to use a Jumbo fret for the first fret, then a screw bolt for the nut. This is because after being glued to the neck - before the fret board is added - the cut on the head stock is often not optimum. OK, it's crooked and downhill. Anyway, this seems to compensate.

Interesting recovery,.. as long as it works right? I usually use little wood shims to fill the gap, and a mix of glue and fine sawdust  to fill any gaps., certainly not as pretty as your method., beautiful work, and i always like to see you headstocks
