I had some slightly lighter string on it before, but it snapped on one end.  Ran across three balls of this twine at Aldi the other day and it looked rustic enough to add to my workshop; you know, just in case.  If nothing else, I was thinking about braiding it like a mandolin strap or something.  Glad I was able to find a use for it so quickly (and it's working out better than the string did).  I've been thinking of picking up some parachute cord and possibly crafting a washtub bass from it, but haven't gotten around to figuring out just how I'm going to set it up, so that project's going on the back burner for a while :)

Yup.  It do look cool and it fits the whole culture.  I use some red and black parachute cord that I think is pretty and looks like the cheap straps that came with cheap guitars in the 40s and 50s.

I took between 15 and 18 inches of twine, square knotted them at the ends, pinched the loop and shoved a washer through to the knot, then ran the loop through itself around the neck and base of a guitar and pushed the washer and nut through a guitar strap's pin holes.  I think it looks pretty cool :)
