Thanks Richey - I hate moving!

Watch this space....should be back into it soon. I hope so anyway as I'm busting to finish this thing!

Well, I'm not going to hold it against you buddy :)

Good luck with the move!

Well, it's done.....the groove for the nut (bolt) has been filed filed out. Sorry Richey, no bone nut this time.

Fret lines have been scored too. Unfortunately though, I'm moving house this weekend so the build's gonna have to go on the backburner for a few days or so.....:-(

That should read 'stick with the simple option'....must've inhaled too many tung oil/wood glue fumes...can't even type a sentence!

One of the things I like about these instruments is their simplicity and the notion that you can use all sorts of items in their construction. As such, I've always liked the idea of using a simple bolt. It had always been part of my plan and, as a rookie, I think I'll still with the simple option....this time ;-)

True John, but I think on this build a bone nut would for neatly against that lip at the end of the fretboard, and there certainly seems to be enough angle in the headstock... obviously its up to you though Kane! :-)

Richey has good reasons for wanting a bone nut.   But let me say a bolt is easier.   A frequent problem is bad nut to tuner angle causing the strings to jump off their desired placement on the nut.   A bolt nut decreases that problem.

..and you should put a bone nut on something that pretty.

I agree. Here's to many more!

Thanks Richey

Have to say as a newcomer, I'm absolutely loving the cbg community - everyone's really helpful and very supportive. Wish I'd found this years ago!
