Are the elements from newish phones useable or just the big round disk type elements from the old rotary and some keypad phones?

yep you're pretty much the king of harp mics on here. so i had some trouble with the wiring on mine- it never would pick up vocals, just the static from my breath. i tried it both directly into a 1/4" jack and with a volume pot. what am i doing wrong??

One of my first harp mic`s , this one i used an old rotary telephone element. The ones i`m making now i use a military grade cb radio mic element. Much better sound and their built like a tank...lol. I just bought some dynamic cartridge elements for my homemade vocal mic.
