Now THAT is really sexy! lovely workmanship and suits the git perfectly.

At the suggestion of Uncle John and Marcus, here's the modified bridge.  While still rather simple, it does tie in better with the tail piece and fret board.

I'm gonna post a pick of my Don Tomas build with one of the Flatpups......4 screw and a wee bit of soldering and VOILA, awesome sound!

Ummmmmmm, search Dan Sleep on this page :-) I got 3 Flatpups from Dan's colleague in Austria a while ago and they are bloody amazing.....just screw 'em on, solder 'me in and start playing....NO WOODWORK REQUIRED! Think there's a shot of one on my home page. Dan now makes them so it's cheaper for us in N America to access them. PS, they are not expensive :-)

Marcus - can you direct me where to find Dan's flat pups?

Lovely work Gary...but I agree with Unc' John about the bridge. Have you thought of using one of Dan's flat pups instead of a Piezo? Would look tres cool and sound better....just my 2 c worth....also pls copy me in on the finished bridge - if it's anything like the tailpiece it'll rock!

Surely!  In fact, I have a rod piezo which I think I'll try to incorporate into the new bridge, vs. using a disk inside the box.

Hey, will you message me when it is done?   I don't want to miss it.

I surely know just what you mean.   I recently did the same thing and yesterday built a more fitting saddle.   Going to try it today.    Yup.  I often do the same with the box.  And with fiber boxes, sometimes use the inside - the underside for the top.

This is a super build here and I would bet it plays as good as it looks.

I should also add another detail.  This box is 'upside down', so the face is actually the bottom of the box.  I did this for two reasons - first, the bottom was a bit thinner, which I felt could help with resonating.  Second, the top slides off instead of being hinged.  This allows me to slide it open for access to the electrical pickups, etc.  The real top just had a Fleur-de-lis so it still wasn't too ornate.
