Got my 3-string Flatpup. Received quickly.  Installed using tape, first, to experiment with placement. It sounds terrific -- and NO hum!!  Thanks, Elmar.  I'm a fan!

Mike, thanks for your comment, it's encouraging to proceed.. :-)

I did what John did, and put a temporary jack on it and tried it on one of my CBG's and it sounds awesome.  It picks up the sound from the strings really good and has more of a mid-range sound (the bass is toned down a little more than what you get with the normal guitar pickups).  There is also less feedback or background hiss on the amp with this pickup than what you get with guitar pickups.  Now I have to get buzy working on my new CBG so I can mount this baby :)

Again, thanks Elmar!  It's a great pickup :)

I recommend these pickups very highly, i have them installed on four of my builds, they really bring out the true character of the guitar and sound great on clean or distortion, i was especially impressed with the one-string "diddley-bug" as demonstrated here...it's a little beast! (-:

Yes, fix the wires to the jack (e.g. by tape) and put the FP below the strings. Try which position suits you best.

Elmar, do you have a recommendation on the placement of the pickup (i.e., close to the bridge, in the middle, or close to the fret board)?  Or should I just put a jack on it and try it in the different locations before I install it?

I'm excited!  I got my flatpup 3 in the mail this afternoon, and I can't wait to try it out -- except that I guess that means I need to finish the CBG I'm building now.  Thanks Elmar!

Nice!!

Brian, it's around 1,4k. I use a little bit thicker wire than the  usual 0.064mm, for not killing the vital treble. The wire I use therfore has less resistance per meter.
