Comment by Tres Seaver on October 27, 2009 at 5:52pm: In the end, I ripped off the poplar (black) fingerboard and replaced it with oak (see the first two pictures), and used real fretwire for it. It made for a load box acoustically, with a good "folky" / "old timey" tone.

Comment by Tres Seaver on September 1, 2009 at 3:01pm: 24.5" / 625 mm scale length. The bridge is a wooden pull from a scrounged screen.

The fingerboard is pretty unsatisfactory: the frets aren't quite long enough to file down properly, and seem a little low. I don't think using the nail heads for position markers is going to work out well, either. I can play it fretted, but most people don't have the calluses / finger strength to manage, I think.

It is nice and loud, but will need work to fix these issues.
