This CBG started life as a 6 string guitar made from a Roses Chocolates Tin back in 2004, and had only eight frets, which was all I needed at the time. I upgraded it to a proper CBG two or three years ago – see rest of pics. The tailpiece is made from half a door hinge and the headstock uses a set of cheap classical guitar tuners. A floating banjo bridge is used for convenience, and there are now 16 frets. The nut has been adapted to give options for 3, 4 and 6 string use. The body has a wooden frame round its sides, held together by eight brackets and 25 bolts with washers and nylon-insert lock nuts. The top and bottom are made from thin plywood held in place by a total of 48 screws. The neck and body supports are made from pieces of plain wood, joined by five long bolts. Inside the body is a piezo pickup (not visible), attached to the plywood by adhesive and connected to one of the jack sockets via a volume control. Also available as a second pickup is an electret microphone and preamplifier, connected to the other jack socket. An external plate gives access for changing the battery.
