Huey's first CGB attempt

Maybe starting with a more difficult box to alter into a CHG. I have no clue, but the sides may be a challenge with the compound curves to them. I hope not, but my shop skills are that of a wild, poop-tosssing monkey. Hoping I don't destroy a really nice looking cigar box, but I really like the looks and want this as my first CBG attempt..

I nowh ave 3 different project CBGs in the works. I can't really say which is the first one, as none are competed at the moment and each seems to have some different techniques or things learned during the addictive construction of each. All are exercises in fun and enjoyment. I have a talk box project going and will likely also start up a stompbox project soon. Too many irons in the fire????? Who knows, but each is challenging and stimulating. My wood working skills are that of a poopie-tossin' monkey, so any accomplishment at all is a major win for me.  :-)

I added some photos today. I found a heavy metal locking jam piece at a local hardware store when shopping there today. I could not resist bringing it home to see if it could be modified to work with my first CBG build. It may or may not work out, but there are a couple of different placements I could possibly use to allow this piece to be modified to hold the strings at the tail end of the guitar. Cost less than $4 bucks for a pair of them, so if they do not work, I have not invested much and can likely find a different use for them.  Any thoughs on use of such? The piece can be trimmed or ground down, as necessary to modifiy it. I accidentally added pics in a second album that is in my albums. I believe it may have some mod photos, too, but not for sure. I am still learning how to add photos into this album.

I just received my cigar box today in the mail. No damage from packaging and the box is prettier than I expected. I am taking some initial measurements, but I do like the size very well. I can only add 10 photos per day, so I have about 23 or so more that I took today of various areas of the box. I'll add them as I can. It is almost criminal to cut into this box as it is so beautiful, but what the hey... :-)

Anyone else tried making a similar box and had good luck with the build on one? This one will be a four string guitar, if all goes well on the build.
