Ebony bridges, brass bridge plate and pan head clamping screws, phosphor bronze saddles. Two disc piezo pickups under the bridge plate. Plate shaped to compliment the look of the Rocky Patel box. I must say, it's nice to have a guitar that plays in tune on all strings all the way up the neck.

Hi Mark.

OK. I will put something together. Thanks for showing so much interest in it and being so encouraging. All the best. John

And by the way, yes, I can look at the saddles and process in my head the steps necessary to machine them with a small end mill cutter on a mill table and so forth, but I want to know your approuch and techniques. Nice touch on the angled top plane by the way. Probably over the top, but when your gonna just nail something......

"How do I tell you that there wasn't one before this without saying that this is the first one?" Damnit, now you are getting a big head.

My personal opinion/position is that I want to know how YOU did it, if I want to try something I have to adapt it to what equipment I have/use.

Seriously John, I'd like to see more pics, equipment used, setup ideas, things you learned. Things that failed to work as planned. Come on man, theres got to be a failure in there somewhere. I'm more from a mechanical/precision machinist back ground that also dabbles in wood work myself than visa-versa, so this is of great interest to me.

Two things that made me go "hmm" were the realization that ebony is dense enough and strong enough for very small machined parts to work in ways I may not have considered previously. I would have probably considered aluminum, brass or something. And the other, less related thing is the way your intonation setup ended up staggered like that.

Hi Mark.

How do I tell you that there wasn't one before this without saying that this is the first one? All the photos that I have taken so far are up, so until I make another I won't have any other pictures. I could write a description of the method but was concerns me about that is that everyone has different equipment, so it needs to be kept fairly general to make it useful to others. I will need to have a think about that. Any suggestions welcome because it sounds as if you have a better idea of what I should put up than I do.

Oh absolutely, the design, function and execution are clean and superb.

I'd love to see pictures of the whole process, and please dont tell me that it came out that good first try.......

(Grumble, mumble.....) you just had to go all Scott Winburn on us........

Hi Mark.

You are far far too kind. Please borrow away. That's why I put up as many photos as I did, to show in as much detail as possible how it is made and how it fits together.

I'm not sure how much I would be able to contribute, but I would be delighted to collaborate on any project.

In view of the photos that are up here do you think that people would find an article useful?

All the best. John

Damnit John, I thought we had an unwritten rule around here to only raise the bar a notch at a time! How inconsiderate and rude to make us have to leap so high!

I scan builds here all the time for ideas and inspiration. There is some great talent to be found. Once in a while I find a real winner of an idea that makes me do the palm to forehead "DOH! why didnt I think of that!" I saw this picture and it was like I packed C-4 in my ears and nose, doused my head in lighter fluid and lit my head on fire. My head just blew up!

I thought I had a good idea brewing. Something fairly unusual and different, but no, now I have to humbly admit a a bit of a deflated feeling....... But wait, if I "borrow" your idea and incorperate the two...... he he he!

Ok John, we might have to collaberate on this one dude. Obviously you have some machining talent and experience here, maybe you can help me tweak an idea I have brewing............

I'll have my people contact your people. As soon as I get a working drawing done.

Oh, and I do hope you are going to do an extensive article on the developement and construction of this bridge. Gonna have to be in the super advanced group, you just wrote your graduate paper man.
