22-Digger truss rod adj

I got a question about the truss rod...When I put the bass A & D strings on and tuned them the post-hole digger handle bowed a lot. So I ordered a U-channel bass truss rod, hollowed out the neck, installed the truss rod and glued a piece of paduk in the slot over the rod. I made a little place to adjust it (it will adjust exactly 1/3 turn at a time). The plug covers the hole. I have to back off the screw and then pull on the screw with pliers to get the plug out.
