Well, as long as there is some CBG affiliation, like CBG background music, no one has the right to really complain. I try to keep my postings here somewhat CBG related. I think that is my way of be respectful to the spirit of this place. But, Shane does say, No Rules! I like to add, yes but there are consequences that we have to live with. LOL Thanks again for sharing. Enjoy.

Thank you for your comment. That is the great thing about folk music. In traditional fashion, you would sing this on Sunday or at a good old Gospel Revival down by the river, and the night before on Saturday, you just change the words and you got yourself a tune to play in the juke joint while you and your pals are all liquored up LOL. Enjoy.

Thank you MrRandomwritings for your comment. I love this clip. Musically, I like seeing the connection between rhythmic percussion and the search for a melody line. It is so Jazz like, as the performer continues the rhythm and adjusts for different tones. Knowing what note each of those pipes is tuned to, would be interesting too. Diatonic instruments by their very construction seem to create those primitive songs. Enjoy.

cheers fo the kind words.i think there should be some kind of health warning on this site about the risks of becoming addicted to building cbgs... :0)

Thank you MrRandomWritings for responding. Personally, I am not a big fan of organ meats, but if done right, it can be a treat. Enjoy

    hi brian
    thanks for saying hi.
Am new to the cbg thing and a retired muso owing to poor health.
Recently got a couple of cbgs, one acoustic/electric and a fretless 3 stringer acoustic.
Would really like to have a go at making one but would find it difficult to put it together, especially the neck...
    Best wishes
    richard

Yes Brian,I'm originally from Bolton but have moved down the road to atherton now. Also I'm working in accrington at the moment..not too far from clitheroe! The North-west bit came from the fact that all the americans on here come from cool sounding places,so I thought country and North-western was a good name for my music style!....or maybe not on second thoughts....
  • Keni Lee Burgess

Thank you Brian for your response. Yes, definitely give it a try. This tuning is very versatile. I will cover the 5 basic keys C D G A E in the upcoming lessons. I will also cover making 7th and m7th chords too. Enjoy.
  • Keni Lee Burgess

I refer to this instrument as the "going for Baroque" 12 string. LOL!

  • Mike Bingham

Thank you Brian for your comment on my Suitcase Kick Drum video.  It is a challenge for sure to keep in time.  When I try a double lick on the bass drum it seems both hands and the other foot go totally bonkers.  Pretty funny looking actually.  Oh well - it's another skill to build and lots of fun.  See ya!
  • Barry "Backwater Jack" Nova

  • bemuzic

Hi Brian, just read the YouTube comment...yeah shame there were no women! btw I didn't have the procedures done in the end as my health insurance company wouldn't pay. Took them 5 bloody weeks to decide that (they usually tell you in a day or two)  Anyway after one day of frustrating phone calls I wrote a song. It's called "Lies" !! ( I kept it deliberately vague so most people will think it's about a relationship I think) Just trying some different drugs to get things as good as I can. It's a matter of weighing up benefit against the side effects : -/.....
  • Slowpaw Steve T

Hi Brian, have a number of photos of all the guys playing and including Lesley, CBJ and HB by the sales area, will post them up on the Nation if you like, or email them to you ...?
  • Uncle John

    Brian,

Thanks for sharing the shindig vids and the work that went into the whole deal.  Also, thanks for spreading them out.  I don't like it when somebody puts up multiple vids at once and knocks people off the main vid page.

    John

  • Uncle John

    Brian,

You DO have an amazing lot of cbg talent near you.

    John.
