Hi Mike.,
Thank you for the welcome note and the tips. Any advice is welcome and needed. The link you sent me was broken, (I couldn't get there from here) . Anyway, thank you and it's good to be here.
hello mike, thanks for the comment on the aluminum neck griffin's build,i used an old aluminum crutch i got at a yard sale for the neck, it turned out ok.
some of the simplest things are not to complicated to add to the mix into a cigar box guitar build,or a stringed instrument build. so i use all types of stuff to build with so that folks can see the different possibilities. i hope to make people think so that they can enjoy building musical instruments using lots of things that are common. thanks again mike.
Mike, I checked out your lap steel, and I will be seeking some advice as I pursue building one of these soon. Isn't this CBG thing contageous, and a real hoot?
Thanks Mike. Simple is good when it comes to d-bows. At first I used the shims just to get the wire tight but found they can be used to fine tune the pitch.
My pleasure. Ya, that is definitly the challenge. Make something extraordinary out of something very ordinary. Keep trying and keep dreaming. Who knows? Enjoy the search. Thanks for sharing.
I'm gathering ideas and materials for a Stumpf fiddle for my daughter's X-mas present. I've got a pole (a shovel handle), a cookie tin, a small instant coffee bottle with screws and nuts, and a wood box, all of which I plan to attach to the pole. I'm going to go around to some stores over the next couple of days to try to find other interesting noise makers. Are there any that you recommend?
I'll be looking for an appropriate sized spring to attach to the bottom like the pogo sticks (pogo cellos). Have you don this? If so, what size spring do you recommend. I was thinking of checking out some motorcycle (or electric moped repair shop for a spring). Some guy in England has built one and has a photo of how he did it using a piece of round bar threaded on each end, two nuts and a couple of eye bolts. So, I think I'll give it a try. Another site suggested using a tennis ball, but I don't have a good way to attach one yet. Maybe cut/drill a hole in one side half way deep and nail or screw it to the end of the pole.
Also, they talk about the need for a piece of coat hanger that contacts the cake tin and when it is hit or fiddled with, it will make a snare drum sound. Do you know any more about that? I guess I'll have to experiment some.
Well. I hope to hear from you. Now for some shopping around...
Thanks for the comment Mike, I appreciate it. I'm really glad I found Wix. They are the company that provide the design templates. I'm a computer idiot and yet they guided me through everything.
I thought it was going to be a nightmare but the hardest part was getting another company to transfer the domain.
this is exactly what folks tell me mike--that i aint right.--thanks, i have to agree with you on that part. thanks for the correctly spoken nice comment sir. and about the brilliant part--it may not be exactly that, but i still like the way it plays, and for using nylon strings for the first time,i have to say i will use them again on a build real soon.thanks again.
Thank you Mike for your comment. This was a special order "reso" Keni Lee Signature model CBG built by Darren Dukes of backporchmojo. Unfortunately, he has closed his shop and it is my understanding, he is not building for retail sale anymore. The larger cone combined with just 3 strings produces a mighty good punch. Enjoy.
Thank you Mike for your comment. I guess the sun has "finally" shined in my backdoor someday. Beats digging ditches or plowing fields. Shiver me timbers...savvy matey?
Thanks, you answered before too. I made one out of plastic and one out of metal and get two tones, one for each foot. Made some for a friend too. Love em!

Mike, no videos from you for quite a while now. I just watched the one with the dog shaped foot pedal. Nice.
