Yet another string question.... On my last 2 3 string electric builds I traialed acoustic and electric strings tuned G-D-G.
Before someone says "there are no rules...blah" can anyone recommend the best way to go, electric or acoustic strings ( and which ones). In the shop here I can't find electric GBG southbound sets only acoustic.

It also depends on the scale (measurement from nut to bridge) e.g. 25 inches. I have used 18 frets on both mine. Go to Stewmac's fret calculator https://www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator

At least 12 are absolutely essential. I've been putting 15 so I can get a high "blues" note on solos. I intend to start putting 17 in the future to get an even higher melody note. Beyond that, they're mostly for looks anyway. If you have the chops to play 'em, then you need 'em--otherwise don't worry about it.

Im building my 1st 3 string cbg and im seeing conflicting info. How many frets is on a 25in fret board? Im seeing info saying 19 to 24. Which is it?
i feel dumb for having to ask this but i could use some help.

Try A- D -a

if the strings are to tight, reverse it and do

D-A-d

that sound get you going and having fun!....you can do a lot with that tuning!
