CBGs, cookie tins.. They're great.. But sometimes a neck is just too nice to stick in a recycled container...
And sometimes you just gotta rock out..

bolt in mate. youve kind of done it completely backwards from how i normally do it, but it'll work. hopefully you havent fitted that bridge yet. I usually rout my neck slot before i even cut the body out, it is where i get my centre line from
thanks, er Kid . i guess i need to build a neck then, but i need to decide how to fit it ??
no panic, i got 3 need finishing off, this is a 'hospital job ' as we say .
hi, i just joined the group. i've had he bits for a solid a while now but been building other stuff. i mean to cut down the bridge to a 3 or 4 string but no idea how to fit the neck - straight through or like on yer tele etc .. here's a mockup -no neck yet.
need a switch for the pup as well . anyway any suggestions . body modeled on a stratotone H44.
Loving the timbers you're using. Starting a 2 string slide paddle bass. Does that count?
welcome welcome..
thanks for signing up.. yes i personally only want so many cbgs and cookie tin builds on the wall before i get a little serious..
ive been focusing on solids and thinlines this year and people are really responding to em.
heres some of mine from the last few months..
i wanna get a few blogs and whatnot up so please, start discussions, ask questions, show us your jigs etc etc..
hopefully i can get ben's blessing to do a competition and giveaway in a month or two
Thanks for the invite Jef. I really like the solid body build. Made friends with a local carver who uses a ton of bass wood for his stuff (carousel animals) and it's in varying widths and 1-1/2" to 2" in thickness -- he gives me the scrap stock which is perfect of a guitar. I get a lot of inspiration from what you create -- some of the best on the web.
