Hi, Guys,

AT LAST!!!!!!!

Just finished my second guitar.
(Or maybe the third if you count a banjo I made from a cigar box I bought on Ebay but was too small to make a guitar out of).

The fret board's one of Chickenbone John's, but the rest's all me.

Ex drawing board neck, homemade box, two piezos, & the rest you can see.

Must get around to learning to play the things properly!

Cheers,

Bill.

Col, sending musical instruments is a pain, as most carriers specifically exclude them from insurance cover unless they are in a hard case. Nothing is immune from damage, but we really make an effort to package well, we double-box all our guitars (already bubble wrapped), in a single thickness corrugated inner carton, then a double wall outer box. We have our packing boxes custom made, and it's reasonably cheap, at £1.00 - to1.75  a box depending on size and quality, but there is a minimum run of 25. These days we use UPS for most stuff (we used to use CityLink until the went bust). We book it all online and they collect from us..all nice and easy and cheaper than ParcelForce. I think most carriers regard "Fragile" and "Handle with Care" tape and stickers as a challenge rather than in instruction.

Bubble wrap around the guitar, rolls on bubble wrap each side of the neck, cardboard over each end, then a box with much tape, all edges and around, fragile tape on all sides and top and bottom

i usually use "FRAGILE" tape as well, i'm sure you'll get your money back :-)

i had a repaired TD-12 £700 drum sequencer delivered by some courier from Roland once that was squashed flat, it looked like a truck had run over it, though i refused to accept it and Roland sent me a new one :-)

I`ve never had one damaged before, but apparently the whole box looked like it had, had a kicking!

I hope it was not deliberate, we`ve thought about and think it must have got stood on with someones full weight!

It would take a lot of force to snap the neck like that!

I have the ticket from sending it, but the customers wife had to sign for it before she saw it, I`m not sure that she complained at the time, but the whole package was battered!

As she signed for it, I`m not sure where we stand!

I am having to pay the guy to send it back to me, I`ve got to build a new neck, at my own cost and time and then pay to send it out again, I already knocked off the shipping in the first place, I`m gonna take a big hit on this job!

I hope I can make a claim against the post office!
