Re Steve: Lesley had a similar experience with him/his mafia when she tried to interview him for her CBG movie. Direct links were OK but the agents seem determined to piss off his fan base and limit his exposure

thats the problem with the music business i suppose. darn shame tho. i saw the Bad Shepherds last year. they were great. i think Ade is touring with his other band this year.

Yep, I spoke to 'the agency', and even went as far as offering an obscene amount of money. First I was ignored a lot, then insulted (albeit indirectly) and then told that "Steve doesnt like to play blues or roots shows, and will not play with other blues or roots artists. He is only interested in playing corporate events"... which is odd, because thats not the word we got back from Steve! Different aspects I guess - Steve wants to play his music, his agency want to earn....

Having said all that, we have a few things on the back burner, so something huge may happen yet. And thats all Im saying about that.

Incidentally we looked at booking the Bad Shepherds too, and the experience was very different. Very polite, interested and very sorry that they are not on tour this year. Just goes to show...

thats cool if you have already got a direct in with him. Bloke i was talking to was Russell Warby of The Agency(william morris agency) but if you have a route to the man himself. sweet.

@ Slowpaw - Tried tried tried to get Steve to come and play Boxstock, but his current agent is not sympathetic to us small scale festivals - they want the big bucks!

Steve knows who the HGMC are though, and we have made a more direct contact, so you never know, maybe one year :o)
