I was so sorry I couldn't make Saturday, I'd have loved to shoot the breeze more with you guys, listened to some more ace music and learn a thing or two at the workshops. Next year I'm telling my brass band to take a running jump, if they want me the same weekend as Boxstock.
I had a great time on Friday, meeting so many of you lovely folks was a thrill (even Mrs Vinylhed enjoyed herself). It was cracking to join in the sharing of tunes, so thanks to the organisers for their hard work at putting it together, and thanks to people for their kind words of support. Bring on next year!!!

Hi all. As promised, here are the links to the Boxstock open mic videos from last friday night at the salutation in Manchester. I wont post them on the nation, as this seemed to cause extreme offence to some members last year!!! So click links to go to you tube. Enjoy

Saturday night, best night i ever had in manchester, All the musicians were brilliant, nice to see everyone , be back next year, thanks yall, c ya.
Boxstock, mine and the wife's first, was brilliant - thanks to all who put the work in to make it happen.
Loved the Friday night, great venue, though never actually saw the acts cos we were to knackered to stand up after the mad post-work thrash up the M6. Umbilical Cowboy man (sorry, didn't catch your name) was utterly hilarious. What was the other one about the super hero who's name got mis-spelt? Bugging me cos I can't remember!
Learnt some good stuff in the workshops - Hollowbelly was especially informative, taught us three of his songs in an hour, though he was a little reticent to discuss his favourite strings or neck profile in the Q&A...
Evening gigs were brill too - especially enjoyed Mike Snowden, though disappointed to see the chickens couldn't make it over for Chicken Coop Blues - guess costs have to be kept down these days... Definite echoes of The Georgia Satellites in a lot of his stuff - must be something in the Atlanta water - wonder if it's available bottled, I could use a bit of that! The other stand out were BRB&BMH - incredible sound, even if they couldn't hear it! Or was that part of the Bad Mood persona?!? Madness has to be the best song Metallica never wrote.
We'll certainly be back the the next one, whenever/wherever it is.
Thanks again
Jim (and Kath in the evenings)
Recovering from a FABULOUS weekend in Manchester, my first visit there and i brought some great memories home!
Great to meet 'Nation friends old and new, sorry if i missed anybody with so much going on! ...will sort some photos out to post up soon!
Friday night bash at The Salutation was fantastic, great choice of venue, some amazing talent on show on open mic. and a busy buzzing buoyant atmosphere all evening!
A great day at Band on the Wall , i enjoyed meeting our Saturday night guest Stars, amazing performances, brillliant choice of talent Ben and CJ! - Mike Snowden, what a lovely guy! - as a fan of Mike's for a long time i really looked forward to meeting him - big hearted, friendly and full of enthusiasm for everything and everybody, and thanks for helping us build our Boxstock guitars!
Some very memorable performances from everybody who all played their sox off - the amazing Babajack took our breath away with a stunning performance, Dave Acari frightened everybody wondering what he was going to do next! Mike Snowden took us back on the train to Georgia - fantastic playing and sound from his CBG's! - and Blackriver Bluesman & Bad Mood Hudson really shook the house with their Johnny Lobo's and drums - amazing guys!
Roll on next year! (-:
Hi guys..just checking in after Boxstock...over 1200 miles on the clock in a week, loads of gigs (and drinking) with Mike Snowden and the madmen from Finland who are Blackriver Bluesman and Bad Mood Hudson. It's been a stressful but amazing week for me, meeting people on the road, all sorts of adventures and fun, loads of stuff to remember and treasure..time for some shuteye back at home now.
This weekend - fanastic, enjoyed it all, thanks to everyone who was involved putting it together. It was very nice to meet people who I see on CBN and the workshops were great. Plus Dave Acari, what an entertainer! I'll be back next year, wherever it may be.
Finally got back - what a brilliant weekend - well done John ,Ben and Malcolm for pulling it all together.
The workshops were great (we won't talk about playing banjos now were home!) and the gig was fantastic
great to catch up again
well done everyone
Ponks
