There are several products you can use, Maplins for example sell a spray for such use, but it would probably 'stain' the wood. As might lighter fluid (petrol). There used to be a product available from art shops that worked like lighter fluid but could be used on paper. Probably no longer available since the increased use of computers for such work. I have heard of 'Blue tack' being used - never tried it myself.

I use Brasso Gary, but only on glossy boxes... failing that you can steam them off.

There is a uk Supplier for the Ruby amp kit,http://pedalparts.co.uk/ruby-mini-guitar-amp-kit/ -  which looks quite tasty and reasonably priced. Circuit diagrams for it ( And its variation the Noisy Cricket.) are out there on the net. I reckon after building a kit you could be well on the way to going solo.

I have found Maplins to be woefully inadequate for guitar based electronic  supplies, but, they are what we have on the high street and always worth a look.
