Picked up some nice (and cheap) baccy tins last week at car boot sale. And a 1955 Kansas license plate for £2

Just for info, on a six string guitar the tuning for open G (spanish tuning) is (from low to high) is D,G,D,G,B,D.

On my latest 4 stringer, it is tuned to D,G,B,D. I've been using this tuning for years and it sounds great. Even Robert Johnson used it. I use Newtone 15 weight strings.

Vestapol tuning would be G, B, D and G. In this tuning it is often tuned to E but is often (because of stresses to the neck with a standard 6 string guitar. But I'm sure that you all knew this.

Ok,
Lost my first eye (joke ,I was really wearing goggles and stab proof vest) trying to tune the high E up to G.
The string broke out of the tailpeice. Gives me an excuse to buy some lighter strings, man, the ones fitted now will just not bend. Short scale and heavy strings are probably best for strumming or cutting cheese?
Maybe a semi acoustic wooden body isn't suitable for dobro tuning either!
The open G sounds nice though, except that with a radiused nut and neck you have to press down a fair bit to get the thicker strings in good contact with the slide. Never get that prob with 3 strings. I know it's defeatist but I've persevered with guitar for years and can only do a few basic chords badly.
I think open tuning will be the way to go for me !

Pete, Yes those buggers who think they are there to rule us do have a nasty habit of trying to extort money from innocent motorists around here. Fight it and win - its not difficult. Any form of punishment without a free trial is unconstitutional anyway - read Magna Carta.
Yours sincerely,
Peregrine Fortesque.

Mark,
I'm on many forums for different subjects, and if a post is put on by scabface, that's what we gets called, unless he signs his post at the bottom e.g.yours sincerely Perigrine Fortesque, lol What's the stangest name you come accross, and did they change it to avoid ridicule? I was in a band with a girl who's name (by deed poll) is Hayley Lollipop Strangelove.
Pete.

Kev,
I live near stoke, last time i went to Manchester I got a speeding fine for doing 33mph through a speed trap, I'm keeping well away, lol

Pete, you asked about the curry house golden mile - in Manchester ? No - the road from Stockport (A6) comes in to Manchester from the South and the 'curry mile' is on Oxford Road - the home of 'Johnny Roadhouse' music shop - which comes into Manchester from the west(ish). You'd be wanting the 'Rusholme' area, just past the hospitals going out from the city. You gonna be around here at some time ?
