As far as box noise is concerned, you're always going to be dealing with that to some degree because of the nature of a piezoelectric pickup. It works more like a microphone than an antenna.

The best place to mount is piezo is right under the bridge and it has to be attached firmly. Whenever I do use them, I use some super aggressive double sided tape (the stuff is so sticky that you would destroy the piezo if you had to remove it after it's been set in place).

If you want to get rid of all box noise, put a magnetic coil in there.

Humming and especially the absence of hum when you touch the pots and jack indicate a grounding problem. How exactly did you wire up your guitar? Has it been star grounded? Give me a play by play of the components in your circuit and how you have them connected.

"Okay, It looks like its been a while since any one asked a question here, so Im gonna ask one , I use piezo's in my builds, but there is way to much box noise and the feed back is anoying, any sugestions.
Also I seem to get a buzzing sound when I plug in to the amp, goes away if I touch the volume pot or the jack, Dosnt seem to do it when I plug in to my normal everyday kinda 6 string guitars. ANy ideas there. HEEELLLLLPPPP "

Terry, perhaps the most important thing about using a piezo pickup is how you mount it - and maybe te second most important thing is shielding it to avoid hum and earthing things properly.
Think of how a piezo works - it gets squashed or bent slightly by the vibrations from the strings in order to generate a signal. Now if you are getting toomuch box noise and not enough string noise it suggests that you need to mount it so it it picks up the string vibrations better. Arranging to mount the piezo inside the bridge, or sandwiched between the bridge and the sound-board, ensure that the string vibrations have to go right through it. With a bigger string signal then you will atomatically hear less box noise and probably less hum too. Does this seem reasonable ?

Attached to this should be a .GIF version of an image of an f-hole I extracted from a picture of Seasick Steve's guitar. I was planning to use it as a guide for an f-hole in a project I'm working on. It seemed a reasonably simple and smooth shape. The edges are a little blurred but it shoul dgive you something to work with.

The brass rod oughta bend ok (mebbe help with a torch/heat).
If it don't work , use it for "saddle stock"
If it does , Birchwood Casey™ makes stuff called "Brass Black" that works like gun bluing .

1/2 a brass hinge and some 3/16" brass rod , maybe , Sam .
" Thread yer own " ends for the nuts (maybe acorn nuts off a light/fan fixture) ,
and piece O' brass for the stringpiece .
