"A few hand tools"  Yes, and they can help you make jigs and specialized tools for your builds.  I'll bet a lot of us build jigs and don't even consider them tools.

I am always looking for ways to speed up and improve the building process.

Here is an adjustable fingerboard clamp I got from Luthiers Mercantile International.  It is a real time saver. This is my latest build a tenor scale uke. Achihua neck with a bloodwood fingerboard.

Yes,Gary,you don't see many comments here.I've not made any tools but the ones I use most of all are a couple of good saws,a few chisels,various files and rasps and probably the most used tool in my armoury,a Dremel drill.Most instruments can be made with a few hand tools....

I would like to see more action on this group.  

I made a quick sanding block for beveling fret ends.  Seems to work pretty well.

thankyou, i was planning on making a jig of some sort hold the saw in place and regulate the depth of cut...

I bought these a Zona 18TP saw and the wider of the two miter boxes they sell at Amazon for fret work. Best deal I could find.

I use one. It's very flexible so you'll want to make a miter box to keep your cuts straight.

has any used an 'Irwin ' dovetail pull saw for cutting fret slots? i'd like buy one but they won't let me test it to see if suitable as it's packaged..

Yep, use it a lot, 3 or sometimes even 4 rolls for a £1 at the pound shop, good for all sorts of temporary work!
