I just rediscovered how handy double back tape can be.  I like to get an idea what my instruments are looking like before they are put together.  You can do lots of temporary "glueing" with the tape.  Especially to put a fingerboard on the neck to measure where the bridge is going to go, etc.

Interesting....I never quite know how to cut them.  I make some guitars and ukes.  Would they be cut perpendicular to the headstock?  I hope so.

Making a gas can banjo with my teenage daughter. Here is a headstock jig for getting the traditional banjo head look -- cut perpendicular to the fretboard:

T-nuts

Something I find really handy.  Drill a slightly oversize hole in the back of a piece of wood and hammer it in.  I use epoxy to prevent it from falling out.  It is great for making various kinds of clamps..

I just got my box joint cutting jig working right.  I don't have a table saw or router, but I do have a Rotozip tool.  I pulled it from my van and knocked the rust off it and made it operational.

I spent several days designing and building this thing.  I ran into some problems due to not having all the proper tools

I put the wood to be cut in from the bottom and clamp it with 2 clamps I built .  There is a non moveable fence and I move the Rotozip tool with blocks for the next cut.  I had a very difficult time making the blocks precisely the right thickness.  I finally used Starbucks coffee stirrers glued together for the blocks.  For my 7/32" bit I glue 8 stirrers together.

I make small little boxes of cheap wood to test it.  Now I am ready for Mahogany  I learned a whole lot in the process.

I am quite happy with this purchase from Amazon.  It is a no name Chinese decibelmeter for around $15.  I tested all my instruments and noted the readings.  They range from 80 to 91.6 db.  I was surprised that the loudest one was a uke.

Now when I  experiment with different bridges, etc I can really know the results.

Sorry about the screw up.

For those of us who are table saw challenged:

I built this saw guide today.  I have been thinking about it for some time.  There is a fixed ripping fence on top.  Below there is a crosscut fence.  You can't see it in the photos.  Also below there is a clamp board.  The work is between the table and the clamp.  The clamp is tightened using the counter sunk screws on top.  This is going to save me a lot of grief.
