Ok I've been a CBNer for a couple of days now and I think this group is where I belong.  I've built several cookpot & cookie tin diddley bows but didn't know there was a name for them or that anyone else had the same passion.  My real passion is the utterbass (a one stringed double washtub bass) I've come up with shown in my profile picture.  I can't wait to share it with you guys!  You are the folks that might actually apprecicate the mechanics of it.  I need no amplification and I can play it all night with no blisters.  It can be heard a hundred yards away actually caring a mellow melody, not the whump whump of the old metal washtubs I once used to play.  I'm leaving tomorrow for a 4 day festival here in central NC but I  promise I'll post something when I return next week.  I'm stoaked about finding folks that can understand this one stringed obsession and maybe offer some support :{)... uttermike

Hi all, I'm new to this. So figured this would be a great way to get started. I've built a diddly bow, and ready to power it up. I'll post pics. Thanks for all your Knowledge and, help.

I used a sink drainer as a pattern for sound holes I drilled in a license plate. Patterns exist everywhere if one takes the time to look! Nice build.

I like the way you made your sound hole patterns with the drilling of the holes, Looks real nice.

I've made several electric & the one I like to play the most is the one I made with cherry main board with inlaid walnut frets & walnut control box wich contains the pickup under the machined brass bridge along with the voulme control and the jack on the opposite side.

That's great, Pete!

lol

I see you've got it inside the fence....

If I did something like that, at least one of the neighbors would 911 me.

Such is life in Kalifornia...

So how does it sound?

Have you made an audio clip of it?

Best

In the next few weeks I am going to build 6 diddleys. Since they are not "traditional" diddley bows, I have dubbed them diddley crows. Featuring crow related decorations. Anyway, hope no one else has done this before. pictures coming soon.
