On a db, the second piezo doesn't add much.  I always like volume control on the instrument, so I'd add the volume pot.  Search wiring diagrams and use a hot iron.  ;-)

In the middle of building a new DB. Advice please...is there anything gained by having two piezos (I have a spare and room to fit). I also have a volume pot to hand. How would I wire up? Would it make much difference? Really I suppose I'm just trying to explore what I can do but don't want to waste time.

Curious as to what diameter broom stick handles folks tend to use for a one-string diddley bow to eliminate the chance of bowing...

I've recently built my first two diddley bows. #1 is very primitive and #2 a bit more sophisticated. Please have a look at my page and let me know what you think.

Building my first 4 string mountain dulcimer. Tuned length will be around 28". What gauge strings should I use, and what do I tune them to? Please don't tell me to use xx string from a guitar 6 pack, as I live on an island and I order my strings in bulk lots from Just Strings (much cheaper for me). So, the actual gauge is what I'm really after. I use D'addario phosphor bronze in most of my Cigar box guitars....are they also most suitable for a dulcimer, or is there a better alternative?

That post, my 1st post about my 1st project, a 1 string D.Bow.
It was day 1 so I consciously made it at the coolest bar in town (&the only one with a humidor & cigar room).

I'd already decided it was ethically correct that I made my post with a cigar & whiskey sour in hand. I told the manager of my intentions. He gave me some beautiful boxes & turned me onto his favourite cigar.

Just wanna set the scene there. It was a nice night.

I've come across the stories about nails in walls tied up with wire & stuff & several months ago came across the same decision as you Willie. Nice idea but not very portable.

I've checked your site Willie & love it. I think I've found the plans that are best suited to me ... Some English guy... gotta find him out again & I'll let you know.

I thought I'd just run this message out just as I get started, workbench ready & tools in hand. just wanted to say a big thank you to both of you for getting back to me. I appreciate the advice but most of all it's just so good to know there are a couple of buddies out there that I can chat with.

Now, where's that tennon saw?
