I love THAT IDEA.
I'll have to learn how to set up a PLAYER.
cool.
I do like taking things other people say and using them as potential lyrics.

thanks a bunch....:-) maybe sometime howa bout a "suggest of a song theme of the month", then results coming in which could be posted to a player on this group page?.......just an Idea, maybe fun in the doin'...they would be similar, that way...........:-) one exercise my friend did involved eavedropping conversations to borrow a line on which to build..........(overheard)

I have a friend who makes it possible to keep on with music lessons, which would presently be a no-go luxury, but they are also like therapy,...at her suggestion..we barter and she gets songwriting help, I get a lesson, my teacher gets errands run. secretarial help, etc....happy barter!
anyway,,,,,she is a lifelong writer, and I will get some ideas from her....things she has learned in summer camps, and writing classes about exercises.......might be fun to post here,...it is a good exercise , I found as I go,,,,to take anothers persons music, and write/formulate lyrics......take another persons lyrics, and sculpt the music to fit them,,,but you must have free reign to change either words, or music, as necessary,.often words must be manipulated / re-written to match the song structure, visa versa.......
I also think your musical upbringing really shapes you...Burl Ives folk for kids musta got ahold a me, cause I tend to relate a silly story quite often.....LOL

Documentation is a must for me.
I keep a folder on my computer's desktop and when inspired take the time to log in my lyric ideas.
I almost always write with a guitar, banjo, or ukulele in hand so I already have a bit of music composition started.
Next to give me a better "visualization" on where I'm headed I make a recording of a performance of the "song"
(complete or not).
I call these "thumbnails".
For me... having the words, music, melody all coming back at me further helps the development.
Or I just forget about it and move on to another one. HaHa
I try to do this daily.

like the look of this group....since getting my CBG's I've written a few songs for the first time EVER (tryin to record an EP, but it's taking me ages!!), so don't have much of a technique!!...interested to hear how others do it : -)
Tryin to remember how I wrote the ones I 've done...think it started with a line or two...or on one song it started with a riff (that could be a song title!)...then the rest just came here and there...often when getting ready for bed and cleaning my teeth for some reason...thinking about nothing.....
