Cigar Box Nation founder, Shane Speal interviews George Benson at NAMM 2015.  Speal incorrectly thought Benson started out on a cigar box guitar.  When asked about it, the guitar legend gave an even more compelling story.

Cool,.. yep ., that’s the way it was,., my grandfathers first and only electric guitar was built by a neighbor in the late 50’s,.. Maple painted black and all the parts came from a torn up   Kay “value leader”.....
