Speaker as a microphone...

I just suspended a 5x7 speaker inside of my suitcase kick drum to emulate the low end response of Yamaha's Subkick. It sounds awesome when plugged into the PA.

Does anyone know anything about impedance and if this could be potentially damaging to our PA or a bass amp if ran direct?

I remember there was some members years ago that used speakers as pickups in builds

I found a few schematics... I'm also pondering running 2 mics inside (the speaker being one). The speaker will pick up the lows, while a small mic will pick up the highs. A volume for each one will allow the output to be adjusted depending on the PA. Still debating the whole thing...

I've been doing some reading... apparently it's safe to run it direct, but resistors will make it easier to control.
