Here's a couple me and the kid wrapped up after my Sunday afternoon nap today, along with an amp we put together.

I kinda screwed up the bottom f hole cutout on the top one, but it's not too bad. 

Probably the only parts I used that you guys can't figure out from the pic is the bridges.  The top one has a standard tile domino with a nail I cut the head off as a bridge.  The bottom has a piece trim moulding I cut the ends at 45º and used a finish nail (head and all lol) as a bridge.  The amp is just a Guitar Fuel kit, box, and piece of rope as a handle.

The problem is that bass strings (also expensive!) are way bigger in diameter than regular guitar strings, so they're not going to fit through the holes in the tuners.

How about making a baritone, instead? The strings are heavier than a standard guitar and the scale is longer (27-30 inches), so they are tuned lower, but the strings are what you would call "extra heavy acoustic" string size, so they'll fit the standard tuners.

You can drill guitar tuners out for bass strings if ur careful. Youll find you only need drill the lowest one. But there's cheap bass tuners on eBay from china now, $15 for four.
