Hey all,

I'm attempting to attach these super small leds into the neck of my CBG.

The idea is that they light up and flicker to the music as you play. Since they are super small I am trying to inlay them into the wood.

I'd like the system to turn on when plugged into the amp.

Will the amp power the leds or do they have to have a stand alone battery?

I can only tell by the picture, it looks to be a ribbon cable with led lights in it. I really can't tell. If so, rip a groove in the neck and glue cable into it. One problem is going to be the lights are 12 volt stuff and all the CBG electronics are 9v. Sorry I am not much help.

Yeah, you can cut it into sets of 3 leds and solder on wires for power.  I don't mind having to supply a seperate 12v source, but still would like the jack to operate as the on/off switch. I think that introducing any current into the amp from the guitar would distort the noise.

One of my first gits was Monte Cristobal and with the parrot and all the colors I couldn't resist putting LED's under each fret marker.  You can get lower voltage LEDs but I don't know if there is any amp out there that puts out enough voltage to run a string of even low voltage one.  Mine used a separate switch and had two AAA batteries in a holder inside the box.  I did buy a color organ so that the next one would flicker to the music but just haven't gotten round to that one yet.

So it is pretty much agreed that there has to be a seperate supply for the power. In terms of the color organ, I found this. I'm going to take it out the box to lighten it, then throw on a 3 cell LIPO from the hobby store to power the getup.

They have tshirts that light up to sound with a ton of designs. But I think they are only bright enough to see in a dark room or at night.  dark = hard to play  :(
