This isn't a defined plan for an amp, but it will give you the basics. Also check out the data sheets for different IC op amps. They are available from national semiconductors website and contain schematics to give you some help.

heres the simplest one ever.
it was the first one i made
i recommend using a large 8 ohm speaker

pretty much any amp you make is going to be based off of an LM386 chip.
it's the black rectangle with 8 pins
