I was trying to finish up a guitar over the weekend and ended up cracking the lid. Not much, but enough that I did a repair and clamped overnight just to be safe. The crack runs right through where you may normally find a pickguard.

It cleaned up nice and seems stable but was thinking about adding a slightly elevated pickguard over the area. The screws would attach the guard above and below the repair and possibly give it more overall stability.

Anybody ever do this with a CBG? I'd hate to potentially kill some natural resonance but this guys going to be a lectric blues banger anyway.

Note to self:  Allway pre-drill everything, dumb ass.

No ham sandwich yet, but now with pickguard. I was going to go the veneer route but found remembered I had some pickguard material tucked away in my parts drawers. I cut one out of a old white guard robbed from something or another. I hit it with a couple applications of rattle can hammered black and it turned out pretty cool. Almost looks like it belongs there.

We need pictures. :)>

Hey Thomas. I wasn't sure how to post a photo on the forum here, so I just put a couple of photos up on my page. You can see it there.

How the heck did you do that? All I can ever get it to do is show up as a link to a photo and not the photo itself.

a few ways  ..  i  actually   just  copied and pasted that  one ..

but   when  you  post  a response    there  is a  small menu   above   the  text   box   you  type in  .   in that  menu,  the    2nd   little    box    right beside   "link  "   , .  click  that , and you  can     upload them  from your  computer  .

Ok, I see it now, thanks!

I just got my nut and bridge done and strung up about an hour ago.  Sounding good!

simple remedy that you and your family will enjoy...get an old 45 record  a tray for fishsticks a spaghetti strainer and oven mitts.. place tray in ..and strainer upside down  on top then lay record on top preheat oven at 200 low for  3 to five minutes record will get soggy looking place... strong construction glue 2 dual mixed compound on cbg the lay record centered to the box..the sides may fold over make sure you put a bit of glue there aswell. and there ya go...a pick guard with hole:) hope that helps. .Melodeeman
