Cigar Box Stage lighting....
My daughter had a toy lighting unit that my son and I ripped the electronics out of an re-wired to run L.E.D.s in beer cans. Used ethernet cables (8 pin) to link beer cans to box (so it comes apart easy).
Does strobe, chasing, flashing or goes to the music. Has seen many-many gigs with my sons band.

It was the kind of light show unit that you would find at like a Spencers ... one unit with six lights built in. We ripped it apart and split the speakers on a new breadboard, and put it in a new box. There is a small piezo (I assume that's what it is) that picks up signal then random flashes random lights to different levels of "thump".
I had to encase the piezo in rubber to deaden signal so that on stage they didn't just stay on full time.
